Road Movie available to pre-order NOW!

DANNY 2:3, Road Movie, is finished. It is still in-house, being laid out and designed, but it will go to the printer by, hopefully, the end of the week. Thereafter it is in the hands of the Gods. The official publication date is the fifth of March, but…

It is available now, to pre-order, here: Save £5 - pre-order now for only £19.99! And, as you can see, with RRP at £24.99, you can save a stonking £5, PLUS you will (generally) get the book up to a week earlier than those available via Amazon or bookshops. (Terms and conditions apply, i.e. you will get it earlier if there is no earthquake in Milton Keynes, we don’t disappear under a foot of snow, or gremlins don’t steal it in transit. Generally, pre-orders get their books well in advance of anyone else, but you have been warned.)

The £19.99 price is POST-FREE, no matter where you live (as long as it is in the UK, USA, Canada, EU Europe or Australia – sorry, Asia), and you will (generally – see Terms & Conditions above) get it EARLIER! What’s not to love?

That’s it. I’m still doing the finalisation (frontispiece, quotes etc), but after that it’s onto Volume 3.

Enjoy…

    Hello

I’ve not died in a oven fire or anything, I’ve been so f’ing busy with exams. I am beyond excited for the imminent Road Movie, and sooner than expected. Beyond excitement. I’m 3 quarters the way through book 2.2 so it will come at just the right time. I’m pissed off because I can’t pre-order till Monday (payday), I have nothing left in my bank. I’ll still be eligible for all the pre-order, receiving early, goodness by then won’t I?

I’ve sent you some DVD’s today, Boardwalk Empire and Tyrannosaur. I didn’t get a chance to come online to ask if you’ve seen it, if you have just send it back later, if not, get ready. It’s one of the most harrowing films I’ve seen. I thought it was fantastic, and Olivia Coleman was amazing, she blew me away. Her husband is such good casting as well, you’ll know what I mean when you see it, but he’s so small and terrifying, perfect for evil.

I’ve got loads of new stuff for you as well, best of which is coming on Monday, Warrior with Tom Hardy. I loved it. I’ve also got the new Sherlock Holmes, both series, it became an obsession for a while.

How are you, by the way? Is the health any better?

Can’t believe I’m going to be reading new DANNY words in 18 days, it better not snow.

    • Well, that was a crushing blow. I was so hoping you’d died in an oven fire just so I could say to people, “Yes, I knew Jodie Rhodes. So tragic…” (lowers voice to an awed whisper) “she died in an oven fire, you know” and I could do that arm folding & nodding thing women in the Midlands seem to do when they impart gossip that is truly earth-shattering.

What the fuck is an oven fire? No, don’t tell me. You’ve probably had one and lived. It will only upset me (that you had one, not that you lived.).

Nevertheless, glad you made it out of the oven in one piece. There are ten people ahead of you in the preorder queue and, frankly, we were worried. But I figured it had to be when we’d announced it. Normally we’d be up at the 20+ mark by now. I think a lot of folks are in the same boat as you: middle of the month and no spare cash. But don’t worry, the preorders will be up until the book is out. You’re good.

Hopefully going to the printers today. Would have gone yesterday but we had a disaster. When we made it into a PDF file to ship over we discovered it had a bug in it and all the italicised words had gone into gibberish thus: w004jrr00 - only in weirder characters. We tried everything to fix it and seem to have narrowed it down to the ads at the back. Max is, as I write this, redoing them one by one and creating individual PDFS (a very long, slow process) to see if we can track the rogue element down. We’re still hoping to get it off tonight, but if not it may be Monday. Say a prayer for a bug free file.

Hooray for the new goodies! Yes PLEASE to the second series of Sherlock. I had been going to recommend it to you after I watched series 1 - really enjoyed it. But this kind of proves I’m right about you liking House. You really do need to watch it you know. And yes, definitely, to Boardwalk and Tyrannosaur. I had them both on my Lovefilm list. I saw NEDS the other day, on Martyn Deedes recommendation. It was good, although I didn’t love the male lead; I found him just too emotionally stunted.

I, too, have lots of new TV for you. I bought the Good Wife - very good. And Swingtown - that I loved. I fell over it by accident, a series that flopped, they only made one, but I loved it. I also bought Drop Dead Diva and Dream On and they were both total wash-outs so I sold them straight away. I’ve also bought 4 series of Madmen, but I want to watch them all again first, then you can have ‘em if you want.

Also hired The Borgias recently. Only watched disc one, but enjoyed that so I will buy it in due course. Best film I’ve seen recently is Red State. A really surprising piece by Kevin Smith. Didn’t know he had it in him.

Do you want any TV, or are you holding off just now to read DANNY when it emerges? Let me know…..

Hi Jodie, we’ve met on your Hope House Farm site. Just wanted to agree with you on Tyrannosaur. The husband (whom i recognise from lots of other quality Uk pot boilers, he’s usually type cast as a weaselly, snivelling type)was well played. He’d got that type of repressed, self pitying little englander so well. Olivia Coleman was a storm, a devastating performance. Both Peter Mullan + Paddy Considine (whom i’ve met but didn’t plug DANNY to, soz Chancery)seem to me to be that mythological beats, men of integrity

    • Yes, Eddie Marsan is always a joy to watch - creepy little fuck that he is. Have you ever seen Session 9? Brilliant and little known ‘horror’. Tht was the first time I noticed Mullan. Gives the performance of his life.
